Rspca: Sabrina, Heidi and Lucek urgently seeking loving forever homes

Three cats are now available for rehoming through rspca Cumbria North and East and need owners who can meet their specific needs; Sabrina requires regular grooming, Heidi needs company and safe outdoor access, and Lucek must be allowed outside in a low-traffic area. The animals are based with the local branch and are being offered to new homes within a limited travel radius to protect their welfare. The branch’s rehoming rules and the animals’ medical and behavioural notes are outlined below.

Sabrina: long-haired, people-facing and needs brushing

Sabrina is a black Domestic Longhair cross believed to be one to two years old who enjoys attention and prefers to be the only cat in the home. A spokesman for the RSPCA Cumbria North and East branch said: “She is just a small girl with very soft, fine long hair. Sabrina has not been with us long, but is coming round now and her personality is starting to come out. She does like attention and enjoys being stroked and made a fuss of. ” The branch adds that Sabrina would prefer not to live with a dog, could live with secondary school-aged children, and is expected to spend most of her time indoors.

Medical and practical notes supplied by the branch state that Sabrina is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and has received flea and worm treatment. The spokesman emphasised care needs for her coat: “With her being a long haired girl, she would need to be brushed several times a week to stop any tats and mats forming. ” The branch enforces a 40-mile travel limit for rehoming to reduce travel stress for cats.

Rspca rehoming rules and what these cats need

The branch operates a 40-mile rehoming limit to protect animals from becoming distressed during long journeys. Enquirers are asked to provide details of their location, any children in the household and their ages, and information about other pets already in the home. That limit is explicitly applied across the centre’s placements for cats to support comfort and safety during rehoming.

Heidi and Lucek have distinct needs that potential adopters must meet: Heidi requires a household where she is the only feline, prefers not to live with dogs, needs a safe outdoor space to explore and thrives on company during the day; Lucek needs a home that allows outdoor access in a safe area away from traffic and benefits from lots of attention balanced with calm downtime.

Heidi and Lucek: older energy and outdoor-loving five-year-old

Heidi is described by the branch as a “very energetic 13-year-old lady who just loves lots of attention and is so friendly. She is a little treasure in the cattery and eats all her food up, doesn’t make a mess and is just a pleasure to look after. ” The domestic shorthair cross needs to be the only pet, can live with older children, and the rescue notes that she thrives on company and should have a safe, secure outdoor space to explore.

Lucek is a five-year-old tabby and white domestic shorthair cross who “came from a home where he was totally spoiled by the lady and her daughter and was quite happy lounging about, but equally liked to go and explore outside, ” the branch said. Staff believe Lucek would suit a home that offers attention and safe outdoor access: “I think Lucek would like a home where he does get a lot of attention and equally can just sit and watch life go by. He needs to be allowed outside, so a safe area away from any traffic would be ideal. “

Prospective adopters should consider each cat’s stated preferences: single-cat placements for Sabrina and Heidi, grooming support for Sabrina, daily company and secure outdoor space for Heidi, and safe outdoor access for Lucek. The branch will screen applicants within its travel limit to ensure the right match and reduce stress for the animals. For now, these three cats remain in the branch’s care while staff work through rehoming enquiries with the animals’ welfare as the priority; rspca staff will continue to manage viewings and placements under the branch’s rehoming policies.
