Ross Kemp returns to EastEnders on Monday 27 April for Mitchell family reunion

ross kemp is back in Walford on Monday, 27 April, as Grant Mitchell returns to EastEnders and finally shares scenes with Phil and Sam again. The comeback follows Mark Fowler’s voicemail to Grant after Nigel’s worsening health becomes part of the family conversation. It marks the first time the Mitchell siblings have been together in more than 20 years.
Grant’s return is set for Monday 27 April
EastEnders has confirmed that Mark’s call will reach Grant, bringing Ross Kemp back to the soap later this month. The scenes will air on Monday, 27 April, with Grant arriving in Walford after being told about Nigel’s condition.
The storyline places Nigel’s care home situation at the center of the episode run, as his pneumonia is described as getting gradually worse while his early-onset dementia progresses. Mark believes his estranged dad should be kept in the loop, while Sam does not want to get in touch with her brother, leaving Mark to act on his own.
That decision leads directly to the reunion that has been building for weeks. In the newly released image tied to the episode run, Ross Kemp appears alongside Steve McFadden and Kim Medcalf, showing the Mitchell siblings together again.
The Mitchell family reunion comes after a long gap
This is the first time the three Mitchells have been in Albert Square at the same time since November 2005, when Phil and Grant joined forces to free Sam from prison over Den’s murder. The later family funeral for Peggy in 2016 did not produce a full on-screen reunion in the same way, with Grant’s appearance then kept brief and distant.
The return also creates a fresh on-screen moment between Grant and his son Mark. The pair have not interacted since Mark learned the truth about his parentage, and this will be the first time they have faced each other since Stephen Aaron-Sipple took over the role earlier this year.
What the cast and producers are saying
In February, Ross Kemp said he was delighted to step back into Grant Mitchell’s shoes and return later this year. He also said it was especially meaningful to be part of Nigel’s ongoing dementia storyline because of a close family connection in real life.
Executive producer Ben Wadey said the team was absolutely thrilled to welcome Ross back to the role of Grant and described the Mitchells as one of EastEnders’ defining dynasties. He added that drama inevitably follows Grant wherever he goes, which sets the tone for what comes next.
For now, the focus stays on the return itself and the family dynamics it unlocks. With ross kemp back on screen on Monday, 27 April, EastEnders is preparing a reunion that puts the Mitchells back at the center of the story.
