David Burke revamps Bernardsville station restaurant for April 18 relaunch

Bernardsville, New Jersey — david burke is taking over operations at the former Station restaurant across from the town’s train station, with Station Tavern slated to relaunch on Saturday, April 18, in Bernardsville. The reopening centers on a refreshed tavern-style menu and a redesigned interior under his restaurant group’s management. The move brings new life to a long-closed local dining spot in a landmark building tied to the town’s rail history.

Station Tavern is set for a fresh start

The relaunch puts David Burke back in Bernardsville, where he previously opened Red Horse by David Burke at the Bernards Inn. Station Tavern will operate in the same general restaurant landscape Burke already has in the region, while adding a new chapter for a property described as beloved but shuttered.

The restaurant will serve an all-day menu from noon to 9 p. m. on weekdays and until 9: 30 p. m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Weekend brunch specials are expected to follow after the debut. The plan is to keep the setting casual while giving the room a warmer look.

Burke’s restaurant group is also said to be shaping the interior around the building’s vintage railroad station lounge theme. The venue is located across from Bernardsville’s train station, and the space is described as a 148-year-old building.

What diners can expect at the reopened spot

The menu is being framed as smaller and easier to navigate than a broad full-scale dining list. It will include burgers, rotisserie baby chicken, crispy pork cutlet Cordon Blu, and sections for appetizers, handhelds, classics and cutlets, and desserts. The bar is expected to feature seasonal signature cocktails, mocktails, local beers, and boozy milkshakes.

A daily happy hour is planned as part of the bar program. The restaurant will also keep a family-friendly culture and a sports-bar feel, with modest prices for casual American fare. david burke is also expected to maintain the tavern-style atmosphere while updating the look and menu.

Burke’s place in the local dining picture

Burke’s work in New Jersey already extends beyond Bernardsville, with other restaurants and a bakery in the state. The Station relaunch adds another property to that portfolio and continues his presence in Central Jersey dining.

In the words of David Burke Hospitality Management, the project is meant to revive a familiar location with a new identity while keeping the property’s historic character in view. The framed page from a July 11, 1978 newspaper edition inside the design points to a family connection Burke chose to highlight.

For now, all eyes are on April 18 and the return of the space as Station Tavern. If the reopening stays on schedule, bernardsville will soon see david burke back in a dining room that blends history, tavern comfort, and a new operating plan.
