Mr Page, a tiler who trades as The Bearded Tiler, said the damage is estimated at around £25, 000 and has left him unable to work because his van was written off. He said the motorhome is especially important to him and his 10-year-old daughter because it is where they spend time together and take breaks from daily pressures.
He said the incident happened while he was out with his dogs, and that when he returned, the house windows were smashed and the front door was damaged as well. The motorhome also suffered broken windows and front lights, adding to the cost and the emotional strain. He said his insurance does not cover the damage to the motorhome windows, leaving him with a significant financial burden.
Family says the attack was unprovoked
On a fundraising page, Mr Page said the attack was unprovoked and left him struggling to absorb what had happened. He said he had never asked for help like this before, but now felt he had no choice. He also said the loss of his work van has taken away his income while he tries to replace it and get back to work.
In a message shared after the attack, he said the situation has been “horrific” and “traumatic, ” adding that he would not wish it on anyone. Police say armed officers attended the scene
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to a property in Lewarne Road, Newquay, at about 1. 15pm on Thursday, April 9, after reports of a man in possession of an axe and causing criminal damage. Police said the man had left the scene before units arrived, and armed officers later found a man at Cornwall Services.
A police spokesperson said the arrested man was held on suspicion of criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, theft and drink-driving. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
