Model S Signature Nears Final Run as Tesla Winds Down Plaid Inventory

The Model S Signature is now part of Tesla’s final limited-edition farewell for its Plaid flagship lineup, with the company building a small invite-only run as inventory continues to shrink. The program is limited to 350 vehicles total across Model S and Model X, and access is being offered only through email to selected Tesla owners.
In the latest details shared publicly on April 8, 2026, the Model X Signature starts at $159, 420, while the Model S Signature pricing has not been confirmed. The move comes as Tesla phases out the Model S and Model X programs and converts the Fremont line that built them to produce Optimus humanoid robots.
Invite-only Model S Signature details surface
The Model S Signature is being positioned as a final run with exclusive styling and hardware touches that separate it from current production vehicles. Tesla is building 250 Signature Model S vehicles and 100 Signature Model X vehicles, with the Model X limited to a 6-seat configuration only.
Key details shared for the Model S Signature include Garnet Red paint, matching door handles, gold Tesla T badges, a gold Plaid badge, and a Signature badge on the rear. The cabin adds a white interior with alcantara and badging, gold Plaid seat badges with gold piping, Signature-marked door sills, a Signature dash plaque with unique numbering, and a special interior lighting sequence.
Inventory pressure is tightening fast
Tesla chief executive Elon Musk said there were only a “few hundred Tesla Model S & X cars left in inventory” and urged customers who want one to place orders quickly. The company’s own inventory view showed fewer than 5 Model S units near Austin, Texas, and a single Model X in the same area.
That scarcity is feeding the sense that the Model S Signature is less a new chapter than a closing one. The Model X Signature is priced $159, 420, roughly $30, 000 above the current Model X Plaid inventory price of $129, 900, which already reflects a $15, 000 increase Tesla added earlier this month as stock thinned.
