Hendon Hooker joins the Titans as Tennessee reshapes its quarterback room

hendon hooker has agreed to sign with the Tennessee Titans, a move that adds another layer to a quarterback group that is already unusually crowded heading into the offseason.

What Happens When Hendon Hooker enters an already crowded Titans quarterback depth chart?

The Titans are adding another quarterback to their roster, with Hendon Hooker agreeing to sign with Tennessee. The move arrives with the team carrying five quarterbacks on its offseason roster: Cam Ward, Mitchell Trubisky, Brandon Allen, Will Levis, and Hendon Hooker.

The current shape of the room makes one immediate reality hard to avoid: competition and roster decisions are coming. With five quarterbacks in the mix, the Titans will be forced to clarify roles and determine which players fit their plans going forward. The situation also creates a natural pressure point for potential movement in the coming weeks, as the roster cannot remain this crowded indefinitely.

What If roster movement follows the signing?

The Titans’ quarterback numbers make it reasonable to expect at least one move to follow, and the current roster construction points to a coming decision. Within that group, Will Levis is described as a prime candidate to be moved in the coming weeks after recovering from a shoulder injury that kept him out for all of last season.

Hooker’s arrival does not, by itself, determine which direction Tennessee will go next. It does, however, change the math. Adding Hendon Hooker increases the number of viable options competing for limited roster space and practice reps, and it accelerates the need for the team to resolve how it wants the position to look when the offseason roster begins to narrow.

What Happens When Hendon Hooker’s recent NFL path is placed in context?

Hendon Hooker entered the NFL as a third-round pick in the 2023 draft. His recent timeline has included multiple stops and mostly practice-squad work. He was most recently with the New York Jets after joining their practice squad late in the 2025 season, then earning a promotion to the 53-man roster in January.

Before that, the Detroit Lions waived Hooker in August during final roster reductions. He then signed with the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad a couple of days later. Across the 2025 campaign, he spent time with the Panthers and the Jets, largely serving as a practice-squad player for both teams.

Hooker’s on-field regular-season action remains limited. He has appeared in three regular-season games, all in the 2024 season with Detroit, completing 6-of-9 passes for 62 yards. With Tennessee, that small sample now becomes part of a bigger evaluation that will unfold inside a packed quarterback room, where the Titans will need to decide how each option fits as the offseason progresses.
