Wiz joins Google Cloud after the acquisition closes

What Happens When Wiz becomes a Google Cloud company?
Google stated the acquisition is intended to improve cloud security and help organizations “build fast and securely across any cloud or AI platform, ” at a moment when businesses and governments are migrating critical data and systems to the cloud while adopting agile and continuous software development. In the same announcement, Google described a risk environment shaped by multicloud operations and broader AI adoption, with attackers using AI to increase the speed and sophistication of cyberattacks.
Within Google Cloud, Wiz is expected to join efforts aimed at delivering a unified security platform designed to improve how quickly organizations detect, prevent, and respond to threats. Google emphasized coverage “at every layer, from code to cloud to runtime, ” and highlighted the need to address threats created using AI models, threats to AI models, and the use of AI models to help security professionals hunt for threats.
Google Cloud also framed the acquisition as consistent with its commitment to openness, stating that Wiz products will continue to work across all major clouds, explicitly naming Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud. Wiz also highlighted its research activity during the acquisition process, pointing to multiple vulnerability and threat discoveries it said helped protect customers and the broader industry. Examples cited by Wiz included findings it named Moltbook, CodeBreach, RediShell, and NVIDIAScape, as well as the discovery and remediation of supply chain attack waves it called Shai-Hulud and NX. Wiz also referenced a hacking competition it hosted, ZeroDay. cloud, describing it as a first-of-its-kind event where researchers uncovered a record number of CVEs in foundational cloud and AI tools.
With wiz joining Google Cloud while maintaining its brand and supporting multiple clouds, the combined effort is being framed by both organizations as an attempt to align security with faster software cycles, growing multicloud complexity, and a threat landscape increasingly shaped by AI.
