Bungay shop FuzzypegFolk marks first anniversary with night of magic and fun

Bungay shop FuzzypegFolk has marked its first anniversary with a night of magic and fun in the Market Place. The celebration brought together patrons, drinks outdoors, and live entertainment as the independent gift shop reflected on its first year of trading. The event focused on community atmosphere, with the shop’s colourful identity at the centre of the evening.
Live entertainment leads the celebration
The occasion featured comedic juggler Dulce Duca, who appeared dressed as Fuzzypeg the hedgehog and balanced store articles on her chin, including a full-sized cartwheel. The evening’s highlight was a live storytelling session of Sant Jordi and the Dragon by local author and illustrator James Mayhew, accompanied by musician Will Fergusson on guitar. FuzzypegFolk’s first anniversary celebration in Bungay was designed to bring together performance, storytelling, and a relaxed shopfront gathering.
The shop, set up by Katharine Ricks in April 2025, is known for colourful decor and for carrying vintage and handmade crafts. It caters to lovers of folk-art collectibles, especially items from Eastern Europe, alongside homeware, toys, gifts, greeting cards, and stationery. The first year has given the Bungay business a clear identity in the Market Place, with the anniversary event underlining that mix of retail and cultural flair.
A shop shaped by family memory
FuzzypegFolk is also a tribute to Ricks’s late mother, who ran a Fuzzypeg shop in Woodbridge during the 1970s. The Bungay shop’s sign was designed by Margaret Tempest, the original illustrator of the Little Grey Rabbit series. Those details give the business a personal and historic thread that ran quietly through the anniversary night.
What the first year has meant
The celebration marked more than a date on the calendar. It showed how a small Bungay shop can use a public anniversary to draw in supporters, spotlight local performers, and reinforce the identity it has built over its first year. FuzzypegFolk’s first anniversary now stands as a visible milestone for the Market Place business, with the Bungay shop likely to continue using the same blend of craft, character, and community appeal.
