Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios are building minecraft world, a $70 million Minecraft-themed park set to open in 2027 at Chessington World of Adventures in Greater London. The project will bring a new roller coaster, interactive adventures, block-built playscapes and themed retail and dining to the Chessington site. Organizers say the park aims to let families play, explore and craft together in an immersive real-world take on the game.
Minecraft World: key attractions and budget
The construction is budgeted at $70 million and will center on Minecraft-themed attractions, including a roller coaster, interactive adventures, block-built playscapes, and themed retail and dining. A selection of iconic Minecraft creators will consult on the build to help shape the play experiences and authenticity of the project. While there is no exact opening date yet, the park is planned to open in 2027 at Chessington World of Adventures, integrating the look and feel of the Minecraft Overworld and familiar biomes into physical play areas in the minecraft world concept.

Chessington World of Adventures is described as Britain’s biggest wildlife theme park and sits a 35-minute direct train ride from London Waterloo. The site already features rides, a zoo, an aquarium and two hotels, which organizers plan to complement with the new Minecraft footprint. Mojang is named as the developer of Minecraft, and the game was adapted to the big screen in 2025 with a film that grossed nearly a billion dollars at the box office.
Where this fits and what’s next
There is no exact opening date yet for the minecraft world attractions beyond the 2027 target, and project teams will continue development work with creator consultants and internal teams. Meanwhile, related experiences are rolling out internationally: fans in Buenos Aires will be able to craft gear and explore “iconic Minecraft biomes” at Minecraft Experience: Moonlight Trail when it opens this May, offering a preview of how physical installations can translate the game into real-world play.
