Surveillance footage captured Campitelli’s Chevrolet Tahoe arriving at the Retina Group of Florida building in Wellington and departing at around 9: 59 p. m. ET on Oct. 28, 2024; detectives believe the attack occurred at that isolated location. Investigators recovered a photo from Campitelli’s phone showing the rear of the Tahoe with a “Happy Birthday” blanket and Ultrasorb medical sheets laid out, and the affidavit notes those medical sheets are the same kind used at Delray Medical Center where the suspect worked.
Campitelli’s Apple Watch was found near the center console with blood on both sides, and DNA analysis confirmed blood at the scene and in the Tahoe was Campitelli’s, the affidavit states. Detectives say Campitelli’s body was later found along the 6100 block of Lyons Road about 50 feet from the Tahoe; the affidavit details blunt force trauma to the head and torso, a skull fracture, rib fractures, blood accumulation in the skull and contusions consistent with dragging.
The affidavit further alleges the vehicle’s front driver-side tire was flat when deputies arrived and the car was still running. Surveillance images show the suspect going to Delray Medical Center later that night and discarding an item near a doctor’s entrance before driving home. Investigators also note the suspect had been using a secret prepaid phone and claimed he canceled the meeting that night, a claim the affidavit says lacks WhatsApp or text corroboration.

Edina Russo, mother of linda campitelli, expressed a mix of grief and gratitude for the persistence of investigators: “There’s a million emotions. I’m obviously always sad but there’s a sense of closure, ” she said. Russo also told investigators she had not known of her daughter’s romantic involvement outside her marriage.
