Police said officers responded to a shooting in the 400 block of North Jackson Street, described as a parking lot area, at around 2: 20 a. m. (ET). When officers arrived, they found three victims.
One person was already deceased at the scene. The other two victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. both surviving victims were in critical condition, and police also indicated one of the hospitalized victims is not expected to live.
Police identified the person killed as Clayton Adams, 22, of Hull. the two other victims are in their early twenties. Police also stated that none of the three victims had connections to the University of Georgia.
Who was arrested, and what charges have been filed?
Police said Mark Desousa, 22, of Jefferson, was arrested in connection with the case at around 6 p. m. (ET) Saturday. Authorities said Desousa has been charged with malice murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been assisting with the investigation,. Police also said the investigation remains ongoing.
