Wsdot reopens SR 410 after overnight windstorm drops trees across a 10-mile stretch

An overnight windstorm left wsdot crews facing a blocked corridor on State Route 410, where multiple trees fell across the roadway and forced a closure spanning roughly 10 miles between Enumclaw and Greenwater.

What happened on SR 410, and where was the closure?

Transportation all lanes of SR 410 were shut down between Mud Mountain Road and an area just west of Greenwater, spanning mileposts 30 to 40. The closure affected about 10 miles of highway and followed several trees falling across the roadway between Enumclaw and Greenwater.

In a separate update issued Thursday morning, the scale of the impact was described more specifically: about 30 trees fell on SR 410 overnight, cutting Greenwater off from Enumclaw until crews could clear the debris. The storm-related damage also affected traffic heading toward Crystal Mountain Resort, with multiple trees in the way.

How did Wsdot crews clear the roadway, and when did SR 410 reopen?

Cleanup began after sunrise. Crews worked through the morning cutting and removing downed trees and clearing debris from the roadway. During the effort, some local traffic was allowed through a single lane while crews continued removal work, with drivers warned to expect delays and possible temporary full closures as the work continued.

SR 410 ultimately reopened after the fallen trees were removed. In a late-morning press release, WSDOT said the highway had been opened to traffic at 11 a. m. ET. Another update put the reopening later in the morning, noting that crews worked from sunrise until the roadway was fully reopened.

What drivers were told to expect during the storm cleanup

With large trees blown down across the highway during the overnight windstorm, the closure created a challenging work zone for maintenance teams in the early hours. By daylight, crews were still hard at work clearing damage, and travelers were advised to plan for delays while tree cutting and removal continued.

For drivers attempting to reach destinations along SR 410, including trips toward Crystal Mountain Resort, the message from transportation officials was straightforward: patience would be required while crews worked through the fallen trees and debris to restore full access.
