Kim mulkey was on the sideline as the sixth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team delivered a record-setting offensive performance, rolling past Oklahoma 112-78 in SEC Tournament quarterfinal play Friday afternoon in Greenville, S. C.
Played at Bon Secours Wellness Arena, the win pushed LSU to 27-4 overall and into the 2026 SEC Tournament semifinals, where the Tigers will face the top-seeded South Carolina Gamecocks. Oklahoma fell to 24-7 with the loss.
What happens when Kim Mulkey’s Tigers hit historic scoring territory?
LSU’s 112 points became the second-largest point total by one team in SEC Tournament history, with additional SEC Tournament records set for 40 fourth-quarter points and 67 second-half points. The output also established a new LSU program record for points in an SEC Tournament game, surpassing the previous mark of 101 set by the 2024-25 squad in the 2025 quarterfinal round against Florida.
The performance also continued a season-long scoring pattern for LSU. The Tigers eclipsed 100 points for the 14th time this season, extending an SEC record for 100-point games and moving one game closer to the NCAA mark of 15.
What happens when milestone moments arrive in a blowout?
Senior Flau’jae Johnson reached a major scoring milestone, finishing with 21 points and surpassing 2, 000 career points at LSU after a three-pointer with 6: 11 left in the game. Johnson became the sixth Tiger to reach at least 2, 000 points, joining Joyce Walker (2, 906), Seimone Augustus (2, 702), Julie Gross (2, 488), Cornelia Gayden (2, 451), and Sylvia Fowles (2, 234). Johnson is also one of 14 active Division I players to score 2, 000 points in their career.
“Kind of just like trusting myself and making the right reads, ” Johnson said of the milestone. “Coach said just seeing matchups. I saw that (Raegan) Beers was in the paint, so I wanted to attack her. I know nobody can stop me in transition. Then I just started feeling it. My teammates started finding me. It started off with assists, though. ”
Johnson was part of a balanced scoring effort that placed multiple Tigers in double figures: MiLaysia Fulwiley scored 22, Mikaylah Williams added 14, Jada Richard finished with 13, and Bella Hines contributed 10.
What happens next for Kim mulkey and LSU in the SEC semifinal?
LSU’s next test comes Saturday in a semifinal matchup with South Carolina, a meeting that will be the teams’ second game against each other this season. South Carolina won the previous matchup on February 14, 79-72, at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Saturday’s contest will be televised on ESPN2 at 4: 30 p. m. ET, with Ryan Ruocco on play-by-play, Rebecca Lobo as analyst, and Holly Rowe as reporter. Radio coverage will be available on the LSU Sports Radio Network with Patrick and Shaeeta Williams calling the action.
Against Oklahoma, LSU set the tone early. The Tigers opened the first quarter with a quick 12-3 lead two minutes in, sparked by Johnson’s jumper and followed by a 10-0 run. Oklahoma battled back to cut the deficit to one midway through the quarter, but LSU rebuilt separation and carried a nine-point lead into the second. In the second quarter, LSU led throughout, Oklahoma closed to within two with 4: 58 left in the half, and LSU answered with a 15-3 run to take a 45-33 advantage into the locker room.
With the semifinal now ahead, LSU carries forward the same story that defined the quarterfinal: historic point production, a milestone performance from Johnson, and a roster that put multiple scorers in double figures in a decisive SEC Tournament win — all under the spotlight surrounding Kim mulkey.
